Mt.Rosa via Frosty Park

Mt.Rosa (11499 ft / 3505 m) is a cone-shaped mountain easily seen from around the city. It is among the tallest mountains in the Colorado Springs area and offers great 360 degree views.

To get to the trailhead drive on the Gold Camp road until you reach Forest Road 379. If you have a high clearance vehicle continue driving for another 1.5 miles on 379, otherwise park your car and hike up the dirt road.

When you reach the large open meadow turn right and pass through the gate. Once you enter the woods and come to a trail intersection turn right and continue on trail #672. From this point the trail climbs fairly steeply through the forest for about a mile. A clearly marked split in trail marks the final push for the summit via #673. This last section runs about 3/4 of a mile along Mt.Rosa's northern ridge. Enjoy the views from the summit.

Distance: 7.2 miles round trip via Forest Road 379 / 4.4 miles round trip from Frosty Park

Directions: Going south on I-25 take exit 140. Drive south on Cheyenne Blvd past Broadmoor Hotel and get on Old Stage Road. This is a dirt road so a high clearance vehicle is recommended.
